Kurinuki Workshop
Kurinuki Workshop – Japanese Sculpture of Functional Ceramics
Discover kurinuki – a traditional Japanese technique where sculpture meets functionality. During the workshop, you will create unique pieces, hand-sculpted from a solid block of clay. Each form is revealed by carefully carving away excess material – no molds, no casts – just you, the clay, and your intuition.
What will you do during the workshop?
– You can create your own tea bowls (chawan), cups (yunomi) or also platters, small bowls, and plates
– You will use various types of stoneware clays in natural colors
– You will learn to combine clays in a technique resembling marble
– You will learn about the aesthetic of wabi-sabi – the beauty of imperfection, rawness, and organic shapes
