Information about works and firings
Below you will find answers to frequently asked questions about abandoned works and firings.
I want to bring my work for firing - what do I need to know?
First and foremost, we'll ask about the clay's origin and whether you know the intended firing temperature. If you don't know what kind of clay it is, we'll likely refuse to fire it. A similar situation applies to glazes, which, if the temperature isn't selected correctly, can flow onto the kiln shelf or damage other pieces. The cost of repairing a kiln shelf can be checked in the Firings tab.
When will my works be ready?
Works are ready for collection two weeks after the workshop date, regardless of their type.
What does the acceptance of works look like?
We invite you to explore your own works in the appropriate areas of the studio. Our shelves are divided by firing type (bisque or glaze), and in the case of bisque-fired pottery, we also arrange them by month. It's important to remember to sign your works or take a photo of them during the workshops.
How much time do I have to collect the works?
We store the works until the end of the month following the workshop. This means that if the works were created during the September workshop, they will remain with us until the end of October. After that time, they become the property of the studio.
I can't find my job - what next?
Occasionally, someone may claim a work that isn't theirs, but these are rare exceptions. Works are usually found after a more intensive search. If a bisque-fired work is lost, in 90% of cases it was destroyed in the kiln and cannot be claimed.
What if my work was damaged during firing?
If the damage to the work was caused by our fault due to incorrect arrangement of the work, contamination with engobe or impact, we offer a free firing of another work of similar dimensions.
Do you create items to order?
To obtain a quote for a specific job, please send your technical details to studio@alike.pl . However, we must immediately emphasize that we are not a factory and do not undertake large orders.
Booking classes, absences, refunds.
Below you will find the most frequently asked questions about the classes
How to make an appointment for classes?
Registration for all classes is possible exclusively through the booking system on our website alike.pl. The date and price are listed under each class, and some also display a calendar where you can select specific class dates.
There are no more places available in my classes - what should I do?
You can sign up for the waiting list - just provide your email address and you will be notified when a spot becomes available. Registration is available on the workshop tab on our website.
Can I bring my child to classes?
Our workshops are aimed at adults with a minimum age of 16. We invite you to attend workshops for teenagers aged 11-16, which can be found in the workshops section of our website.
I want to postpone or cancel the workshop - how do I do it?
If you notify us by email or via chat on the website up to 7 days before the workshop, we will refund 100% of your deposit. After this time, we will release your spot and, if it is filled, we will refund 50% of your deposit, regardless of the reason for your cancellation. If you wish to transfer your participation to a new date, this is possible if there are more than 7 days left before the workshop – the same procedure applies to cancellations.
What are the payment methods for recurring classes?
The only way to register for regular classes is through a subscription model, meaning you can link your payment card to our system. We do not offer cash or bank transfer payments.
Organization and course of the workshops
Here you will find answers about the course of the workshops
How to prepare for classes?
First and foremost, wear comfortable clothes and sports shoes, whether you're working on the wheel, glazing, or modeling with clay—above all, clothing must be comfortable. We also ask that you don't wear your best clothes, as working with clay can be messy, despite the protective aprons we provide. The clay itself is very visible, especially on black clothing, although it cleans quite easily.
Ladies, we also ask you to shorten your nails - the longer they are, the less comfortable it will be to work with clay.
I have no experience with ceramics - are the classes suitable for me?
Classes are designed for both advanced and beginners. Our instructors are experienced ceramicists or potters and will be able to easily help those who have never handled clay, as well as provide their knowledge to more advanced students.
What do you provide during classes?
We provide all materials, tools, protective aprons, and necessary accessories needed to conduct the classes. Additionally, for most classes, we offer firing of the work according to the workshop description. We also offer complimentary tea, coffee, and drinking water for participants. Despite its numerous amenities, the facility itself is equipped with two bathrooms on level -1 (accessible via stairs).
Can I request an individual appointment?
We're still working on the schedule and will base it on the availability of rooms, equipment, and instructors. However, if you'd like to come with a larger group, we can try to create a customized date for groups of four or more, using the Integration Workshops available here: Integration Ceramic Workshops.
Can I come to class earlier?
You can check in 15 minutes before class. Please allow us time to prepare the room.
