Three-Day Tea Ware Workshop with Andrzej Bero – Teapot
Instructor: Andrew Bero
Duration: 15 hours
Level: Beginner+
Three-Day Teapot Workshop with Andrzej Bero
Three days at the wheel, focused on one ceramic challenge: your own teapot. This is an intimate, creative event for those who already know the basics of throwing and want to dedicate more time to a single, more complex project.
Each participant creates their own teapot and decides on its character, proportions, and aesthetics. We do not work according to one mandatory design. Inspiration will come from various forms of tea-related vessels and solutions used in teapot bodies, lids, spouts, and handles.
The workshop is primarily based on pottery wheel work. A basic level of comfort with centering clay and creating simple forms is necessary due to the technical complexity of a teapot – however, prior experience in creating tea vessels is not required.
Andrzej Bero has been involved in ceramics for over 30 years, and in recent years, his practice has been primarily dedicated to ceramics related to tea culture and the creation of tea vessels.
Andrzej is with the group throughout the workshop: he demonstrates various solutions and methods for creating individual elements, shows necessary actions, helps with proportions and joining forms, and continuously supports participants in creating their own teapots.
During the three days, there will be time to:
- plan your own teapot form and proportions,
- work on the body,
- create and fit the lid,
- form the spout,
- create and attach the handle,
- combine elements into a cohesive and functional whole,
- finish the surface and prepare the work for the first firing.
