Witgert 27 SF 25% 0.5–2.0mm Black Stone Clay 10kg
Witgert 27 Black Stone clay – coarse-grained, effective stoneware clay
Witgert 27 Black Stone is a plastic, coarse-grained stoneware clay with 25% black grog, particle size 0.5–2.0 mm. Depending on the firing temperature, the body changes from light grey to grey and dark grey. The visible black grains emphasize the texture and give the work a raw, stone-like character.
Characteristics:
- Fired color: light grey, grey to dark grey
- Application: hand-building, slab work, and sculpture
- Form: plastic clay, packed in 10 kg bags
- Firing temperature range: 1000–1250°C
- Grog content: 25% black grog, grain size 0.5–2.0 mm
- Drying shrinkage: approx. 4.7%
- Firing shrinkage: 1.7% at 1000°C; 3.4% at 1100°C; 4.1% at 1200°C
- Water absorption after firing: 12.0% at 1000°C; 7.5% at 1100°C; 4.6% at 1200°C
The clay is primarily intended for sculpture, pots, decorative objects, slab forms, and hand-modeling. It works well with projects where a visible material structure and a natural stone effect are important. The stony, raw character of this clay complements minimalist, industrial interior design and gardens well.
The parameters provided are indicative. The final color, shrinkage, water absorption, and glaze behavior depend on the kiln, atmosphere, soaking time, and firing curve. Before producing a larger series, we recommend a technological test with the chosen clay and glaze.
