Painting and decorating plates using the Sgraffito technique
Sgraffito Workshops
I'm delighted to invite you to a workshop on the sgraffito technique. This seemingly simple method offers remarkable depth and incredible satisfaction. It's also one of the most intuitive ways to decorate ceramics, allowing for a high level of control over the final effect. The workshops are taught from scratch, so those with no previous ceramic experience are also welcome.
The classes will include a theoretical demonstration and a practical session. We'll begin by discussing the various stages of clay drying, underglaze paints, and tools—both high-end and more affordable (yet fully functional) options. We'll go over graphic design, drawing, inspiration, and planning. Afterward, we'll move on to the practical part—creating your own piece.
The workshop price includes one larger plate or mug (depending on the workshop), Amaco Velvet underglazes, as well as bisque firing and high-temperature firing with a transparent glaze. The glazed and fired piece will be available for collection after the workshop.
