Slab-Built Vase Workshop
Ceramics workshops: Making vases using the slab method
During the workshop, participants will learn the slab method and create their own vase from light stoneware. Inspired by contemporary design, the workshop is suitable for people of all skill levels, including those who have never worked with clay before.
Class schedule:
- A short introduction to high-melting clays, the firing process, and drying techniques
- Working with a rolling mill and forming large sheets of clay
- Combining elements and giving them an individual shape
- Independent modeling and experimenting with form
- Decorating molded vases with underglaze paints
Each participant will create a vase up to 30 cm tall, which after the first (bisque) firing will reach approximately 26-27 cm. During the next class, the finished pieces will be painted with underglaze paints and covered with a transparent glaze. After approximately two weeks, the pieces will be fired, making them fully functional and waterproof. You are welcome to collect them at that time.
Bisque and high temperature firing are included in the price.
The workshops last two days (approximately two weeks apart): the first session is 3 hours, the second 2 hours. Coffee and tea are provided during the sessions.
The classes will be led by Maria Badowska-Cabrera, who is passionate about functional ceramics and creates stoneware vessels on a daily basis. She founded the Hopies Ceramics brand.
Please make thoughtful purchases.
Cancellations or postponements are only possible within 7 days of the scheduled start date. After this time, rescheduling or refunds are not possible.
