WMS 2502 clay – a light mass with attractive, dark spots

WMS 2502 is a unique fireclay with a fine grain (0–0.2 mm) that develops characteristic dark specks after firing, becoming visible at temperatures above 1150°C. Its aesthetic appeal and stable working properties make it a popular choice for both utility and decorative work. It is suitable for both turning and hand-forming.

Characteristic:

• Colour after firing: cream to grey-cream with dark spots (from 1150 °C)

• Application: turning, hand forming

• Form: plastic clay, packed in 10 kg bags

• Firing temperature range: 1000–1280 °C

• Fireclay content: 25%, grain 0–0.2 mm

• Shrinkage on drying: approx. 5.8%

• Shrinkage when fired at 1280 °C: approx. 6%

• Water absorption after firing at 1280 °C: approx. 0.6%

Thanks to its speckled effect and neutral colour, WMS 2502 provides a beautiful background for transparent and semi-transparent glazes, while maintaining high functionality and durability.
