Sibelco WMS2502 Clay 10kg
WMS 2502 Clay – clay with black, fine grog (25%)
WMS 2502 is a subtle and decorative clay with 25% fine grog (0–0.2 mm), which, after firing, creates an effect of black, irregular dots on a cream or grey-brown background. The body works well for throwing and building small hand-formed pieces – maintaining a balance between plasticity and stability during drying and firing.
Characteristics:
- Fired colour: from cream to grey-brown with visible black dots
- Application: throwing, hand-building
- Form: plastic clay, packaged in 10 kg
- Firing temperature range: 1000–1280°C
- Grog content: 25%, fine black grog 0–0.2 mm
- Drying shrinkage: approx. 5.5%
- Firing shrinkage at 1250 °C: approx. 7%
- Water absorption after firing at 1250 °C: approx. 0.5%
This is an ideal choice for potters who appreciate natural surface effects and distinct texture, especially in combination with transparent or translucent glazes.
The given parameters are approximate. The final colour, shrinkage, water absorption, and glaze behaviour depend on the kiln, atmosphere, soaking time, and firing curve. We recommend a technological test with the selected clay body and glaze before producing a larger series.
