Clay WM 3020 FS – mass with thick black fireclay (30%)

WM 3020 FS is a clay with a distinct texture, containing as much as 30% coarse black fireclay (0.5–2 mm). The fireclay grains become increasingly visible as the firing temperature increases, lending the work a rustic, raw character. This clay is ideal for building large forms where high stability and strength are required.

Characteristic:

• Color after firing: from dark to black with clearly visible fireclay

• Application: construction of large molds

• Form: plastic clay, packed in 10 kg bags

• Firing temperature range: 1000–1250 °C

• Fireclay content: 30%, black, coarse fireclay 0.5–2 mm

• Shrinkage on drying: approx. 5.5%

• Shrinkage when fired at 1250 °C: approx. 8%

• Water absorption after firing at 1280 °C: approx. 3.5%

WM 3020 FS is an excellent choice for ceramists who create larger, heavier objects and want to emphasize their natural, rustic texture.
