Sibelco WM3020FS Clay 10kg
Sibelco WM3020FS Clay – Coarse Grog Stoneware Clay for Large Forms
Sibelco WM3020FS is a coarse-grained stoneware clay body specifically designed for larger objects. It contains 30% black grog with a grain size of 0.5–2.0 mm, which significantly strengthens the structure and gives the surface a raw, mineral character. After firing, the clay has a creamy, non-uniform mélange shade.
Characteristics:
- Fired color: creamy mélange
- Application: hand-building, slab work, and sculpture
- Form: plastic clay, packaged in 10 kg
- Firing temperature range: 1000–1250°C
- Grog content: 30% black grog, grain size 0.5–2.0 mm
- Drying shrinkage: approx. 5.5%
- Firing shrinkage: approx. 3.5% at 1200°C
- Water absorption after firing: approx. 6.0% at 1200°C
It is best suited for sculpture, large planters, lamps, architectural forms, and objects built from slabs or coils. Due to its coarse grain, it is not a typical clay for thin-walled functional ceramics, but it can be thrown for forms with a more massive construction. It is a proven choice for sculpture studios and outdoor projects where resistance to stresses during drying and firing is more important than surface smoothness.
The given parameters are approximate. The final color, shrinkage, water absorption, and glaze behavior depend on the kiln, atmosphere, soaking time, and firing curve. Before producing a larger series, we recommend a technological test with the selected clay and glaze.
