Sibelco WM2502 Clay 10kg
Sibelco WM2502 Clay – light, fine grog stoneware clay
Sibelco WM2502 is a versatile, light stoneware clay with 25% very fine grog. After firing, it takes on a shade from off-white to light grey, depending on the temperature and atmosphere. Thanks to the 0–0.2 mm grog, it remains more stable than smooth clays, but still provides a surface suitable for utilitarian ware and throwing on the wheel.
Characteristics:
- Fired colour: white, cream to light grey
- Application: throwing and hand-building
- Form: plastic clay, packed in 10 kg
- Firing temperature range: 1000–1280°C
- Grog content: 25% grog, grain 0–0.2 mm
- Drying shrinkage: approx. 5.5%
- Firing shrinkage: approx. 5.2% at 1200°C
- Water absorption after firing: approx. 3.5% at 1200°C; approx. 1.2% at 1260°C
Recommended for mugs, bowls, plates, vases, slab forms, and daily workshop use. The neutral body works well with both opaque and transparent glazes, and the fine grog helps with larger and more complex forms. Its versatility makes it a common "default" studio clay, chosen when there are no specific requirements for colour or texture.
The parameters given are indicative. The final colour, shrinkage, absorbency, and glaze behaviour depend on the kiln, atmosphere, soaking time, and firing curve. Before making a larger series, we recommend a technological test with the chosen clay and glaze.
