Sibelco WB 04048 Clay – very light, smooth stoneware body

Sibelco WB 04048 is a very light stoneware body with a smooth, fine structure that fires to a white to light cream color. Thanks to its high plasticity and clean surface, it performs well in works where a light bisque and delicate finish are important. It is suitable for wheel-throwing, modeling, and other hand-forming methods.

• Firing temperature range: 1000–1280°C
• Grog content: no grog added
• Drying shrinkage: approximately 5%
• Firing shrinkage: approximately 8% at 1200°C
• Water absorption after firing: approximately 3% at 1200°C

WB 04048 will be a good choice for functional ceramics and works requiring a light, neutral background for glazes. Its smooth surface particularly highlights transparent glazes, light colors, and delicate decorations, and its wide temperature range allows it to be used in various firing programs.

The parameters provided are indicative. The final color, shrinkage, water absorption, and glaze behavior depend on the kiln, atmosphere, soaking time, and firing curve. Before producing a larger series, we recommend a technological test with the selected body and glaze.
