Sibelco R2505 Clay 10kg
Sibelco R2505 Clay – red grogged stoneware clay
Sibelco R2505 is a stoneware clay with 25% grog (0–0.5 mm). After firing, it achieves a color ranging from light red to reddish-brown, and its medium-fine grain ensures good stability for modeling and building forms. The natural color of the bisque body looks good both unglazed and under a transparent coating.
Characteristics:
- Fired color: light red to reddish-brown
- Application: hand-building, slab work, and sculpture
- Form: plastic clay, packaged in 10 kg
- Firing temperature range: 1000–1250°C
- Grog content: 25% grog, grain 0–0.5 mm
- Drying shrinkage: approx. 6.0%
- Firing shrinkage: approx. 4.5% at 1100°C
- Water absorption after firing: approx. 6.0% at 1100°C
It is suitable for pots, sculptures, decorative vessels, large bowls, and hand-built forms. It can also be used on the wheel when a slightly textured surface is desired. Light glazes will provide a strong contrast, while transparent glazes will emphasize the natural color of the bisque body. It is a popular choice among sculptors and garden ceramics artists who value both the stability of the clay and the warm, earthy colors of the finished product.
The parameters provided are indicative. The final color, shrinkage, water absorption, and glaze behavior depend on the kiln, atmosphere, soaking time, and firing curve. Before producing a larger series, we recommend conducting a technological test with the selected clay and glaze.
