Sibelco Ateliermassen Weiss 2502 Clay – light, finely grogged stoneware body

Sibelco Ateliermassen Weiss 2502 is a light stoneware body with 25% very fine grog. The 0–0.2 mm grain strengthens the form but remains almost imperceptible on the finished surface, making the body well-suited for throwing and functional ware. After firing, it achieves a neutral cream color.

• Drying shrinkage: approx. 6.3%
• Firing shrinkage: approx. 5.1% at 1200°C
• Water absorption after firing: approx. 3.9% at 1200°C

It is suitable for cups, bowls, plates, vases, slab forms, and daily workshop work. It is a good choice when a body lighter and more stable than the non-grogged version is needed, but without a distinctly sculptural texture. It is a safe choice as the first stoneware body in a studio — it forgives minor shaping errors while providing a sufficiently clean result for selling finished products.

The parameters provided are indicative. The final color, shrinkage, water absorption, and glaze behavior depend on the kiln, atmosphere, soaking time, and firing curve. Before producing a larger series, we recommend a technological test with the chosen body and glaze.
