Clay Goerg & Schneider 930 10kg
Goerg & Schneider 930 Clay – light, finely speckled stoneware body
Goerg & Schneider 930 is a light, creamy stoneware body with fine basalt specks. The 25% grog content (0–0.2 mm) provides stability during work, but does not detract from the body's pleasant, relatively smooth surface. The fine speckling becomes particularly attractive at higher firing temperatures.
Characteristics:
- Fired color: white to light cream with fine specks
- Application: hand-building and functional or decorative work
- Form: plastic clay, packaged in 10 kg
- Firing temperature range: 1000–1280°C
- Grog content: 25% grog, grain 0–0.2 mm, fine basalt specks
- Drying shrinkage: approx. 6%
- Firing shrinkage: 3% at 1070°C; 5% at 1140°C; 7% at 1200°C; 7% at 1240°C
- Water absorption after firing: 9% at 1070°C; 6% at 1140°C; 2% at 1200°C; 1% at 1240°C
It will work well for cups, plates, bowls, teacups, and vases. This is a good choice for those looking for a light speckled clay with a subtle, rather than dominant, speckled pattern. The delicate speckling means that even classic, light-colored pottery acquires a subtle, handcrafted character without the need for additional decoration.
The parameters provided are indicative. The final color, shrinkage, water absorption, and glaze behavior depend on the kiln, atmosphere, soaking time, and firing curve. Before producing a larger series, we recommend a technological test with the chosen body and glaze.
