Goerg & Schneider 552 Clay – Red, Heavily Grogged Modeling Clay

Goerg & Schneider 552 is a red, heavily grogged modeling and building clay. It contains 40% grog (0–0.5 mm), which helps it hold its shape well and makes it suitable for work requiring high stability. After firing, it retains the classic red color of the bisque.

Recommended for sculptures, pots, tiles, lamps, bas-reliefs, and hand-built objects. The high grog content facilitates maintaining vertical walls and reduces deformation, but it gives the surface a distinct textural character. The classic red color combined with high stability makes it a popular choice for outdoor sculptures and architectural elements.

The parameters provided are indicative. The final color, shrinkage, absorbency, and glaze behavior depend on the kiln, atmosphere, soaking time, and firing curve. Before producing a larger series, we recommend a technological test with the chosen clay and glaze.
