Clay Goerg & Schneider 468 10kg
Goerg & Schneider 468 Clay – light, heavily grogged modelling clay
Goerg & Schneider 468 is a light sculpting clay with 40% grog (0–0.5 mm). It is highly stabilised, but has a much finer surface than variants with grog up to 2 mm. After firing, it takes on a white to light cream colour, which works well with glazes and slips.
Characteristics:
- Fired colour: white to light cream
- Application: hand building, slab work, sculpture
- Form: plastic clay, 10 kg packs
- Firing temperature range: 1000–1260°C
- Grog content: 40% grog, 0–0.5 mm grain
- Drying shrinkage: approx. 5%
- Firing shrinkage: 2% at 1070°C; 4% at 1140°C; 5% at 1240°C
- Water absorption after firing: 9% at 1070°C; 6% at 1140°C; 2% at 1240°C
Recommended for sculptures, bas-reliefs, pots, lamps, tiles, and slab-built objects. The high content of fine grog helps to control drying and shape, and the light colour offers a wide range of glazing possibilities. The high content of fine grog makes it a safe choice for larger, bas-relief or tiled projects where the risk of cracking during drying is highest.
The parameters provided are indicative. The final colour, shrinkage, water absorption, and glaze behaviour depend on the kiln, atmosphere, soaking time, and firing curve. Before producing a larger series, we recommend a technological test with the chosen clay and glaze.
