Goerg & Schneider 391 Clay – fine, leather-cork stoneware body

Goerg & Schneider 391 is a very fine stoneware body with a warm color ranging from leather to cork. It contains 20% grog of 0–0.2 mm, making it suitable for throwing larger vessels while achieving a smooth and pleasant-to-touch surface.

Characteristics:

• Fired color: leather to cork
• Application: throwing and hand-building
• Form: plastic clay, packed in 10 kg
• Firing temperature range: 1000–1240°C
• Grog content: 20% grog, grain size 0–0.2 mm
• Drying shrinkage: approximately 7%
• Firing shrinkage: 5% at 1140°C; 6% at 1200°C; 7% at 1240°C
• Water absorption after firing: 6% at 1140°C; 3% at 1200°C; 1% at 1240°C

Recommended for bowls, vases, mugs with a more rustic character, slab forms, and smaller decorative objects. The warm color of the bisque looks good without glaze and under transparent glazes. Its warm color and pleasant-to-touch surface make it suitable for everyday rustic pottery.
