Clay Goerg & Schneider 376 10kg
Goerg & Schneider 376 Clay – dark, grogged modelling clay
Goerg & Schneider 376 is a grey-black modelling clay with 30% grog, particle size 0.2–0.8 mm. The distinct grog gives the surface a mineral texture and helps support larger, spatial forms. After firing, the clay remains dark, but its final shade depends on the temperature.
Characteristics:
- Fired colour: grey-black
- Application: hand-building, slab work, and sculpture
- Form: plastic clay, packed in 10 kg
- Firing temperature range: 1000–1240°C
- Grog content: 30% grog, 0.2–0.8 mm grain size
- Drying shrinkage: approx. 6%
- Firing shrinkage: 5% at 1070°C; 7% at 1140°C; 7% at 1240°C
- Water absorption after firing: 11% at 1070°C; 7% at 1140°C; 5% at 1240°C
Recommended for sculpture, pots, lamps, reliefs, and slab-built objects. Due to its relatively high water absorption, even at the upper end of the temperature range, for functional and outdoor work, independent technological tests and appropriate glazing are necessary. The distinctly tactile grog gives pieces a raw, almost stony character, which looks good in large garden and interior forms.
The parameters provided are for guidance only. The final colour, shrinkage, water absorption, and glaze behaviour depend on the kiln, atmosphere, soaking time, and firing curve. Before making a larger series, we recommend a technological test with the chosen clay body and glaze.
