Clay Goerg & Schneider 264 10kg
Clay Goerg & Schneider 264 – light, grogged stoneware clay
Goerg & Schneider 264 is a light stoneware clay with 25% grog 0–0.5 mm, intended for both throwing and hand-building. It has a versatile white-cream color and a slightly more tactile texture than clays with grain up to 0.2 mm, making it well-suited for larger forms as well.
Characteristics:
- Fired color: white to light cream
- Application: throwing and hand-building
- Form: plastic clay, packed in 10 kg
- Firing temperature range: 1000–1280°C
- Grog content: 25% grog, grain 0–0.5 mm
- Drying shrinkage: approx. 6%
- Firing shrinkage: 3% at 1070°C; 6% at 1140°C; 6% at 1240°C
- Water absorption after firing: 8% at 1070°C; 4% at 1140°C; 1% at 1240°C
Recommended for bowls, vases, planters, functional tableware with slightly thicker walls, sculpture, and slab forms. The light color enhances most glazes, and the medium-fine grog strengthens the construction. This is a good intermediate option between smooth and heavily grogged clays – stable enough for larger forms, yet still friendly on the wheel.
The given parameters are approximate. The final color, shrinkage, water absorption, and glaze behavior depend on the kiln, atmosphere, soaking time, and firing curve. Before making a larger series, we recommend a technological test with the selected clay and glaze.
