Clay Goerg & Schneider 208 10 kg
Goerg & Schneider 208 Clay – smooth stoneware body for throwing
Goerg & Schneider 208 is a light, smooth stoneware body without grog, developed for wheel throwing. It has a white-cream color after firing and a wide temperature range, allowing it to be used in both low and high stoneware firings.
Characteristics:
- Fired color: white to light cream
- Application: throwing
- Form: plastic clay, packed in 10 kg
- Firing temperature range: 1000–1280°C
- Grog content: none
- Drying shrinkage: approx. 6%
- Firing shrinkage: 2% at 1070°C; 4% at 1140°C; 7% at 1240°C
- Water absorption after firing: 10% at 1070°C; 7% at 1140°C; 1% at 1240°C
Recommended for mugs, cups, bowls, plates, and vases. The absence of grog provides a smooth surface and comfortable trimming, but requires more even drying, especially for wide and flat forms. The wide range of firing temperatures offers flexibility in choosing kilns and glazes – the same body can be used for both low and high stoneware firings in the same studio.
The parameters provided are indicative. The final color, shrinkage, water absorption, and glaze behavior depend on the kiln, atmosphere, soaking time, and firing curve. Before making a larger series, we recommend a technological test with the chosen clay and glaze.
