Goerg & Schneider 1100 Clay – very light, smooth stoneware body for throwing

Goerg & Schneider 1100 is a very light, smooth grog-free stoneware body designed for throwing. When fired at high temperatures, it achieves nearly zero water absorption, creating a highly vitrified, white body. It is a good choice for elegant utility ceramics where smoothness and color purity are important.

Characteristics:

• Fired color: white to very light
• Application: throwing, thin-walled vessels, jewelry, and decorative forms
• Form: plastic clay, packed in 10 kg
• Firing temperature range: 1000–1280°C
• Grog content: none
• Shrinkage during drying: approximately 5%
• Shrinkage during firing: approximately 9% at 1240°C
• Water absorption after firing: approximately 0.1% at 1240°C

Recommended for cups, mugs, bowls, plates, vases, and thin-walled vessels. Due to high firing shrinkage at the upper temperature range, it is advisable to make dimensional samples and carefully control drying. The porcelain-like white body and nearly zero water absorption make vessels made from this clay suitable for daily, intensive use.
