Kurinuka Workshop

I am pleased to invite you to a workshop offering not only a solid foundation in the art of creating ceramics, but also a very satisfying process in itself, ending with a completely unique item.

The workshop focuses on the basics of ceramics: the properties of ceramic masses, specifications and methods of dyeing the masses. We will talk about sensing the right moment to work and basic techniques - squeezing from a ball, building from a sheet and rollers. Classes begin with a short lecture, after which we move on to practical tasks, i.e. building three vessels from different ceramic masses.

The last point will be cutting out the capillary or capillaries following the Japanese technique of kurinuki. After the classes, the participants will leave armed with the basic knowledge of what masses to choose for a given project, how to store them, what technique to use and why patience and humility are the most important in ceramics.
